About Courtney

Courtney is a credentialed teacher with over a decade of classroom experience who believes learning is one of life’s great joys. She teaches because she loves discovering new things and wants to share that joy with others. She believes education should be a beautiful and meaningful experience—one that sparks curiosity, cultivates wonder, and helps children grow in knowledge, character, and confidence.
Her approach to teaching is deeply influenced by Charlotte Mason, an educator who believed children are capable of engaging with rich ideas and deserve an education filled with beauty, truth, and meaningful experiences. Courtney believes children are created with a natural desire to know and understand the world around them, and she delights in helping students discover the joy of learning.
In Her Classroom
In her classroom, students are encouraged to:
- Explore great ideas through carefully chosen books, stories, and conversations.
- Develop understanding by sharing what they have learned through speaking, writing, and creative expression.
- Practice careful observation and curiosity through studying the world around them.
- Appreciate the beauty of the arts while developing their own creativity and skills.
- Build a strong foundation of knowledge through consistent, purposeful lessons that allow learning to grow over time.
- Recognize that all truth, beauty, and knowledge reveal something of God’s character, inspiring gratitude, wonder, and a deeper love for both His person and the world He has made.
Learning in Community
In a multi-age classroom community, Courtney loves seeing students learn alongside one another—older students developing leadership and younger students being inspired by those around them. She believes this unique environment allows children to grow not only academically, but also in confidence, responsibility, generosity, and community.
Beyond the Classroom
When she is not teaching, Courtney enjoys many of the same pursuits she hopes to cultivate in her students: reading, creating with her hands, spending time outdoors, and noticing the beauty in everyday life. She enjoys quilting, embroidery, cooking, traveling, walking, and especially time spent near the water.
Whether she is observing birds in her yard, sharing a meal with loved ones, or enjoying a pot of Earl Grey with a good book, Courtney finds joy in the simple wonders of God’s creation.
Above all, Courtney treasures time with her husband and daughters, who continue to inspire her own curiosity, creativity, and love of learning.
