School Expectations

At Lilac Lane Homeschool Academy, we believe that every child is created in the image of God and possesses immeasurable worth. Children flourish in an environment of consistency, kindness, and respect for the dignity of every person. Our goal is to provide a peaceful, joyful classroom where every student can grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

The following expectations help ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn in a safe, healthy, and productive environment.

Attendance

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s success. Meaningful learning takes place day after day, with each lesson building upon the last. Because Lilac Lane Homeschool Academy is designed as a cohesive, full-year learning experience, regular attendance and active participation are essential.

Parents should notify the school as soon as possible if their child will be absent. Excessive absences or repeated tardiness may affect a student’s continued enrollment.

If the teacher becomes ill, classes may be canceled for the day, as substitute teachers are not available. Every effort will be made to provide families with as much advance notice as possible. Any canceled school days will be communicated promptly.

Health & Wellness Policy

One of the simplest ways we can care for one another is by staying home when we are sick. Children learn best when they feel well, and remaining home while ill helps protect the health of classmates, families, and our school community.

As a courtesy to our school community, please keep your child home whenever they are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness, including:

  1. Fever
  2. Vomiting or diarrhea
  3. Persistent cough
  4. Unexplained rash
  5. Sore throat
  6. Runny nose
  7. Any other symptom that may place others at risk of illness

If a student develops symptoms of illness during the school day, a parent or guardian will be contacted, and the student should be picked up promptly.

By keeping sick children home, we not only give them the opportunity to rest and recover, but also help ensure that classmates can continue learning in a healthy environment.

Families are expected to support and follow the school’s Health & Wellness Policy. Repeated failure to do so may result in dismissal from the program, as protecting the health and learning of our school community is a shared responsibility.

Technology Policy

Lilac Lane Homeschool Academy is intentionally designed to encourage attentiveness, conversation, hands-on learning, and meaningful relationships. Personal electronic devices can be a distraction from these goals.

Cell phones, smart watches, tablets, laptops, gaming devices, earbuds, and other personal electronic devices should remain at home unless specifically requested for educational purposes.

Student Conduct

Students are expected to contribute positively to our classroom community by demonstrating kindness, honesty, respect, responsibility, and self-control.

Students are expected to:

  1. Treat teachers, classmates, and visitors with courtesy and respect.
  2. Follow directions promptly.
  3. Care for classroom materials and supplies.
  4. Participate thoughtfully in lessons and activities.
  5. Encourage and support one another.

The following behaviors are not permitted:

  1. Bullying, intimidation, or harassment
  2. Physical aggression or fighting
  3. Threatening or abusive language
  4. Deliberate disrespect toward others
  5. Intentional damage to property
  6. Any behavior that disrupts the learning environment or compromises the safety of others

Behavior concerns will be addressed promptly and in partnership with parents. Repeated or serious violations may result in dismissal from the program.

Parent Partnership

Parents are an essential part of a child’s education. We ask parents to partner with us by:

  1. Supporting school expectations at home.
  2. Ensuring students attend school regularly and arrive on time.
  3. Providing required books, curriculum, and school supplies.
  4. Communicating promptly regarding absences, illness, or concerns.
  5. Working together respectfully to support each student’s growth and success.

By enrolling at Lilac Lane Homeschool Academy, families acknowledge and agree to support these expectations so that together we can provide a safe, joyful, and enriching learning environment for every student.
