About Courtney

Meet Courtney

Courtney is a credentialed teacher with over a decade of classroom experience. She teaches because she loves learning and wants to share that joy with others. She believes education should be a beautiful and meaningful experience—one that sparks curiosity, cultivates wonder, and helps children grow in knowledge, character, and confidence.

Teaching with purpose

An education filled with beauty, truth, and wonder.

Her approach to teaching is deeply influenced by Charlotte Mason, an educator who believed children are capable of engaging with rich ideas and deserve an education filled with beauty, truth, and meaningful experiences. Courtney believes children are created with a natural desire to know and understand the world around them, and she delights in helping students discover the joy of learning.

The classroom experience

A rich feast of learning.

In her classroom, students are encouraged to:

  • Explore great ideas through carefully chosen books, stories, and conversations.
  • Develop understanding by sharing what they have learned through speaking, writing, and creative expression.
  • Practice careful observation and curiosity through studying the world around them.
  • Appreciate the beauty of the arts while developing their own creativity and skills.
  • Build a strong foundation of knowledge through consistent, purposeful lessons that allow learning to grow over time.
  • Recognize that all truth, beauty, and knowledge reveal something of God's character, inspiring gratitude, wonder, and a deeper love for the world He has made.

Learning together

A classroom culture of curiosity and encouragement.

In a multi-age classroom community, Courtney loves seeing students learn alongside one another—older students developing leadership and younger students being inspired by those around them. Together, they create a classroom culture of curiosity, encouragement, and a shared love of learning.

Beyond the classroom

A life full of books and wonder.

When she is not teaching, Courtney can often be found with a good book, a cup of Earl Grey, or a creative project in hand. She enjoys quilting, embroidery, cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors—especially near the water. She finds great joy in observing the natural world, whether walking outside or watching the birds that visit her yard. Most of all, she treasures time with her husband and four daughters, who continue to inspire her own love of learning and wonder.
